Lash Care Information

Below are the answers to some commonly asked questions. Please feel free to call us or to stop in for a complimentary personal consultation.

  • What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes. Lash Extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that designed to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for daily wear or special occasions.

  • How long do lash extensions last?

Properly applied extensions should last as long as your natural lash life cycle, anywhere from 3-6 weeks depending on the individual. Aftercare is the key to longevity. A re-lash every 2-3 weeks is required to maintain your initial full set look.

  • How often should I get touch-ups ?

We recommend getting a touch up or “re-lash” every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will shed and you will require a full set. Your natural eyelashes shed every 45 - 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as exposure to steam or touching your eyes may cause the extensions to fall sooner. A re-lash is needed to fill in any lashes that have shed. Re-lash times average about 45 minutes.

  • How do I choose the look I want?

Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths, curls, etc. We will consult with you prior to your appointment to select the fullness, length, curl and design. These elements will create a customized look. The overall look of the lashes is very natural.

  • How long will it take to Apply Eyelash Extensions and how is it done?

Your initial full set of eyelash extensions takes around 90 minutes to be applied, and re-lashes can be done in as little as 30 minutes depending on the number of eyelashes you select. You will lay comfortably on a lash bed with your eyes closed. The eyelash professional will then apply an under eye sensitive tape to cover your lower lashes . Then the extensions will be applied to each of your individual eyelashes. ,

  • Why should I invest in them?

    ● prevents the need for mascara and other messy eye makeup
    ● enhances the eyes making you look even more beautiful
    ● you can swim and workout with them
    ● no need for an eyelash curler
    ● does not damage the natural lash
    ● look and feel natural
    ● Makes natural eyelashes look thicker, fuller and more dramatic
  • Are lash extensions bad for my lashes?

Eyelash extensions are the BEST option when using false lashes to enhance your look. This is because eyelash extensions are placed using the correct weight and correct length individually on your natural lashes. They are placed 1 mm from your skin, so there is no contact with your lids. The adhesive used is undetectable. Once your natural lash is ready to shed, the extension that is placed on your lash naturally sheds with the extension so there is no pulling or breakage.

  • What do I need to do to prepare for my first lash extension appointment?

    ● Please set aside at least two hours for your full set lash appointment and at least one hour and 15 minutes for your re-lash appointments
    ● Please do not wear any eye makeup to your appointment, especially eyeliner and mascara
    ● We recommend removing contact lenses prior to your appointment
    ● Please arrive about 5 minutes prior to your first appointment. This will allow you to complete the necessary paperwork and to prepare for your service.
  • What do I need to know about after care?

The longevity of the eyelash extensions depends on how well you take care of them. The maintenance depends on you, therefore we cannot guarantee how long the extensions will stay. For best results, we recommend a re-lash every 2 weeks.

    The First 48 Hours
It takes 48 hours for the adhesive to cure (dry) thoroughly and yield a strong, durable bond. During this time, the adhesive bond is vulnerable to moisture, steam, excessive heat, cosmetic ingredients coming into contact with the adhesive bond, and friction from rubbing and cleansing.

The following activities will result in a weaker bond, premature eyelash extension loss and/or irritation and therefore should be avoided during the first 48 hours:
    ● Showering (If you shower your lashes will prematurely shed immediately )
    ● Wetting your eyelashes
    ● Crying
    ● Working out (includes low impact, sweat will not allow the adhesive to cure)
    ● Exposure to heat & steam (includes cooking, steam from ironing, opening a dishwasher), sauna, and friction
    ● Application of eye and eyelash cosmetics includes eyeliner and concealers
    ● Touching or brushing the extensions
    ● Sleeping on side or stomach
    ● Receiving irritating eye-area treatments, such as strong chemical peels, skin resurfacing procedures, or laser treatments
    ● Spray tans

After the first 48hours, although the adhesive has fully cured, persistent exposure to moisture, steam, heat, incompatible cosmetics, and friction from rubbing and cleansing may impact the durability of the adhesive bond.

The following activities will weaken the adhesive bond and result in premature eyelash extension loss and therefore should be avoided completely:

    ● Cream based eye shadows, primers, or concealers
    ● Excessive exposure to heat, steam, sauna, and friction
    ● Use of oil-based eye care products on or near your eyelashes, such as eye creams, eye serums, Vaseline, and cleansers
*The oil contained in eye makeup remover weakens the eyelash extension and will cause the extension to fall off quickly
    ● Use of waterproof cosmetic products on or near the lashes including waterproof mascara and eyeliner
    ● Excessive mascara application (including compatible mascara)
    ● Using mechanical curlers
    ● Picking or pulling on your eyelashes
    ● Excessively rubbing your eyes or lids (your lashes may fall of when you unconsciously apply pressure to the eye area)

    General Maintenance and Tips

Wash your face at the sink to ensure total control of your cleansing products. Use a facecloth to wash your cleansing products from your face - also great for a gentle daily exfoliation. Wipe around eyes completely avoiding your lashes.

Oil-free make up wipes often snag the lashes. We offer 2 facial cloths that will not snag the lashes and can be used to remove all cleansing products from your face.

Avoid shower water directly hitting your lashes. Be cautious with hair conditioner and shampoo dripping into your lashes. Lean your head back in shower to avoid contact with all hair products.

Try to keep oil under control, especially in the T-Zone and around the eyes. We recommend oil blotting film that won’t smudge your makeup. Use them on upper eyelids and below your eyes too.

Avoid getting close to heated oven, grill, or fire pit. Use a headband when you’re hitting the gym or working up a sweat to prevent sweat from dripping into your eyes.

Although mascara is not necessary, eyelash extension mascaras can be used (sparingly) on the tips of your eyelash extension only, to achieve and even more dramatic look. You may also use the eyelash extension mascara on your lower eyelashes.

*Note: you must remove the mascara from your lashes with oil free makeup remover after each use.

Natural lash shedding, improper care in the first 48 hours. Excessive rubbing, use of skin care or beauty products on or even near your lashes. Exposure to heat, water, or steam.

In the rare case that you do not like your new extensions or feel that your new extension are too long, please do not use scissors to trim the lashes or pick at them at home. Please contact us to schedule a safe removal.

    Re-Lash Maintenance

Your natural lash has an approximate life span. When your own lash sheds, it is replaced with a new lash. A re-lash is recommended every 2 weeks to replace any lashes lost due to your lash cycle in order to maintain the look and fullness of your lash extensions. Appointments past 4 weeks are considered a full set.

At your re-lash appointment you can make adjustments to your current look. Including length, curl, and design. Please make your technician aware of any changes to be made. Lash fullness is determined by the quantity of lashes applied. To maintain your fullness or to achieve additional volume, additional lashes must be applied. Please consider this when booking your re-lashes.
